When you buy of us you are buying truly ethical 100% natural paddock to plate eggs, chickens ,Beef, Lamb and pork products. We protect the environment, nurture our animals and growing them the natural way to ensure our animals and our clients health. Like all things - doing things the right way or the hard way comes at additional cost but only in a financial sense. Yes it is much more labor intensive (and therefore more expensive) to farm this way but the result we believe is superior not only in the taste of our product but in the lives our animals live and our reduced impact on the land. Our animals live naturally on our land, we do not use motor bikes or cattle prods, we herd the animals ourselves with the help our dog who is trained not to bite the animals thus providing stress free stock movement for our rotational grazing.

Well for a start, grass fed beef is higher in:

  • Omega-3 (Good Fat)
  • Antioxidants (Vitamins A and E)
  • Carotene for producing Vitamin A
  • CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid)
  • TVA (Trans-Vaccenic Acid)

So, what does that all mean?

Scroll down the page to learn more about why these are important in your diet. Our animals graze contentedly on diverse pastures in Gippsland. They eat nothing but grass and other diverse plants, hay and silage save for our pigs and chickens which are supplemented by a natural milled product..

As part of our commitment to conscious farming our pastures are also chemical free – plus, there are no hormones, no antibiotics and no GMOs. And of course what’s good for you is good for us… our family are growing up strong and healthy eating our product.

The right fats

Fats are a really important part of your diet… they make up a large proportion of your brain and have heaps of functions in a healthy body, but you must eat the right ones in the right balance! Grass fed or pasture feed gives you the right balance of fats.

A ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids of around 2:1 is great, and that’s what grass fed beef gives you, just like in healthy wild game meats. In grain fed beef the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 can be around 7:1 or even higher – and that’s not so good for you! You can make your grass fed beef even more healthy by cooking it right –

Vitamins, anti-oxidants and more good things!

Grass fed beef has higher levels of the life protecting antioxidants Vitamin A and E. These vitamins have cancer protective qualities and help to boost your immune system. CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) is a trans fatty acid that actually improves your brain function, helps with weight loss and is widely believed to reduce cancer risk. While lower in overall saturated fat, grass fed beef is higher in CLA than grain fed beef. Our farming methods encourages greater nutrient density of your food. We’re working with nature to create living soils, diverse pasture communities and functioning water and mineral cycles. This means our meat is nutrient dense… and of course all these extra nutrients make it taste amazing!

Our passion is giving your family (and our family) the very best nutrition so…

Our cows graze on our clean, natural pastures of Gippsland.

We make certain our beautiful grass fed beef contains:

  • NO GMO’s (genetically modified organisms).
  • NO antibiotics
  • NO hormone growth promotants
  • NO chemicals or pesticides
  • NO gluten
  • NO preservatives

Why is Chemical Free Better?

Apart from the obvious benefit that if you choose chemical free beef you’re avoiding the risks of ingesting these nasties… there are also other benefits you might not know about.

If you apply lots of chemical fertilisers to land the result is that things like nitrogen and phosphorous are highly available to the plant. The plant then becomes a little lazy and it stops supporting the soil microbiology with plant sugars from the roots… because it doesn’t need the help of the microbes to gain access to these main nutrients anymore.

Eventually the microbes in the soil die off – declining in numbers and diversity and the clever give and take relationship of nature is broken. This means that some of the micro-nutrients you (and our cows) need in smaller amounts, like zinc, molybdenum or selenium then might not be available to the plant. So the food is then less nourishing. Also, because the plants such as single species crops are less robust they can often need fungicides and pesticides – which can further affect the soil microbiology… and things go from bad to worse.

We know that all plants have their purpose and we try not to focus on any weed species, but rather focus on growing more healthy grass for our cows to eat! This means we’re not spraying chemicals across our pastures. So our cows have the best opportunity to an adequate supply of nutrients, both macro and trace, giving them good immunity, robust health, fertility and longevity.

This is great for the well-being of our cows and, in turn, great for you… because our grass fed beef is quite simply, very good for you.

Animal welfare is our number 1 priority!

Animals are trucked to the local abattoir half an hour away from the farm thus reducing stress on the animals and are then delivered to our local butcher within hours of leaving the property where the meat is then hung for 7-14 days before being cut to your requirements.. A big difference from the days many animals spend in transit before slaughter. So it tastes better and is cheaper as well!

It’s a clean, green and Healthy!

We use regenerative agricultural methods without artificial fertilisers or hormone growth promotants, emphasising, bio-diversity, animal welfare and sustainability into the future. Our motivation is that “Farms are our pharmacy and food is medicine” because customer health and the future is our main focus.
